Largemouth Bass: Patterning a New Lake and Stripers on the Fly/World-Record Attempt | S1 E02

Season 20 Sponsors

Neal Larsson spends a day on the lake with bass pro Mark Burgess and learns how the pros go about patterning an unfamiliar body of water. Mark explains what prompts him to fish certain areas, and between lessons, puts some tournament-grade largemouths in the boat.

Then we join Roger Swiderski to stalk fat stripers in the thin water of tidal estuaries with a fly rod. The bass are gorging themselves on juvenile baitfish, but many of them are unable to resist the Clousers expertly placed by “Jolly” Roger. Finally, Roger splices on a 2-pound-test tippet and seeks to beat the existing world record for that category.
